Death Notice for James S. Ordway
James S. Ordway, of Lewisburg, formerly of Pulaski, age 75 passed on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Ascension St. Thomas West Hospital. He was born the son of Sam Edward and Catherine Moody Ordway. He was baptized in the body of Christ at an early age and became a Church of Christ gospel minister.
Bro. Ordway was preceded in preceded in death by his parents, Sam Ed and Catherine Ordway, his brother Van Kenton Ordway and his two sisters, Evelyn Jean Abernathy and Cathy Marie Ordway Smith.
He graduated from high school in Giles County, after high school he graduated from Paducah Electrical Engineering School; he also graduated from Columbia State Community College with an Associate Degree in Career Education; lastly he earned a Bachelor of Professional Studies Degree from David Lipscomb University.
He was united in holy matrimony to Gladys M. Bishop on December 24, 1972. This union was blessed with one daughter, Cheryl L. Ordway.
Bro. Ordway was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 1972 and worked at Heil Quaker and later worked at Union Carbide in Oak Ridge then he transferred to Arnold Engineering Complex in Tullahoma where he retired after 34.5 years of service. He will be immeasurably missed and remembered.
James Ordway is survived by a devoted wife, Gladys Bishop Ordway, his daughter Cheryl, his granddaughter Erika LeFlouria, one sister Kaye Sherrell of Columbia and two brothers Marcus “Eddie” Ordway, wife Kathy, and John Keith Ordway both of Pulaski, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
He will lie in repose on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024, at Second Avenue Church of Christ. Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 pm. until 1:00 pm. The Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm. Bro. Webster Sparkman will present the Eulogy. Interment will follow.
