Robert L. De’Witt O’Neal

We regret to inform you that Mr. Robert L. De’witt O’Neal, age 79, passed after an extended illness on Monday, January 23, 2017, at Signature Healthcare in Nashville. He was a member of Greater First Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Emma Robertson and Pete O’Neal.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters: Bessie Lou and Lois O’Neal, his brother Ollie O’Neal and many other relatives.

He received his education at Jones Training School; and was employed by Burger King and worked for 35 years at M.D.H.A. After his retirement he became a volunteer at the Shelby Towers in Nashville, TN. He was affectionately known as De’Witt. He will be deeply missed and remembered.

Robert O’Neal, is survived by his devoted daughter, Debra Maddox of Nashville; two sons: Robert Maddox and Robert O’Neal, Jr.; ten grandchildren: Charles, Olivia and Makiyah Maddox, Robert Winfield, Raymika Abston, Robert and Fredrick Dillard, Jalen Akins, Josh and Rickesha O’Neal; twelve great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

The Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Greater First Baptist Church; burial will follow in Cook Memorial Cemetery.
