Headstones

In our efforts to preserve family history, headstones and monuments are a now available and on display at the Funeral Home. Headstones are memorials of remembrance, aiding in the study of the family's history. They are made of especially strong and permanent rock. The can express words of optimism and inspiration or a sentiment reflecting eternal love.

Granite stone: Granite is a hard stone and requires skill to carve by hand. Modern methods of carving include using computer-controlled rotary bits and sandblasting over a rubber stencil.

Marble and Limestone: Both limestone and marble take carving well. Marble is a recrystallized form of limestone. Marble became popular from the early 19th century, though its extra cost limited its appeal.
